It just feels great to have songs built around piano grooves. The 70's classic soul vibe is even stronger this time out, if that is even possible. "The Diary of Alicia Keys" feels much more organic - there are more live instruments, including a lot of strings, some skittering guitar here and there, and a heavier dose of piano. However, Alicia does try to repeat that hit, as there are a couple here that are very close to Fallin'. Kind of doubtful that this will have as big an impact, though, as "A Minor"'s hits might have been fluky no one would have predicted a waltz-time redo of James Brown's "It's a Man's Man's Man's World" such as "Fallin'" would have been as huge as it was. Just a few quick thoughts - I think the new album is as good as or even better than "A Minor". I always wanted to have an "official" thread, though. ![]() OK, the "official" is probably not necessary, as I don't think there will be numerous other Alicia Keys threads popping up.
